This competition-winning design contains a mix of commercial, office, and parking, along with ferry arrival and departure facilities. The complex consists of a 40-story office tower atop a bus/taxi/ferry terminal, retail mall, and parking facility.

Set on a peninsula jutting into the Pearl River basin, the complex will be an important transit and commercial hub for the city of Shenzhen and southern China. The office tower’s dynamic shape recalls a ship in plan form with sails in elevation. These historic symbols are reinterpreted in a modernist vocabulary, giving the building a unique form. The narrow axis of the office tower presents an elegant and symbolic image of a ship’s mast to the major approaches by sea and land.
