Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago,
9th Floor Build Out

The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) commissioned Loebl Schlossman & Hackl to collaborate in redefining rehabilitation care through the design and development of a new 24-bed Patient Recovery Unit (PRU) on the ninth floor of its existing facility. The new PRU will allow for flexible uses within the 18,763 square foot space and incorporates the world’s first Ability Lab™. The Ability Lab is a unique treatment and research space focused on Advancing Ability™ for patients – particularly abilities related to walking and gait improvement.

Patients who are recovering from stroke, neurological impairments and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries will experience the latest technology and a new paradigm of care that fuses together live medical research and clinical care in an inspiring, state-of-the-art environment.
